It's more a saying about how hard work or enthusiasm is honored with results
Or it's just a way of telling people to get up early
Franklin Delano Roosevelt said it also had to do with luck
Bad luck, in this case, for the worm

By the way wasn't it this Roosevelt who had a wife who also caught an early worm?
Or was it Rossevelt's bad luck to be caught by that bird?
